West High sends 3 students to International Science and Engineering Fair

Three West High Students ( Krishnam Goel, Aadhi Umamageswaran, and Ian Kim ) competed at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) administered by the Society for Science May 10-16, 2025 held in Colombus, Ohio.   ISEF is the top level of Science Fair offered worldwide.   In 2025, 1700 participants from 48 US States and 64 Countries, regions and territories were represented.  Over 170,000 students enter science fairs worldwide, and participants at ISEF represent the top 1 percent of students.

Krishnam Goel (12 th grade, West High) competed in Cutting the Cord: Using Inductive Coupling Principles & Litz Coils to Wirelessly Power & Retrieve Data from Implanted Batteries and Sensors

Aadhi Umamageswaran (11 th grade, West High) competed in Visualizing Avian Vocal Diversity Through Chladni Resonances In addition to competing, Aadhi enjoyed “talking to people from different countries and sharing our projects and what we want to study.”

Ian Kim (11 th grade, West High) went as an observer having earned it by being selected at USEF for his project on Reducing Hydrofluorocarbon Emissions: Fine Tuning Phase Transitions in Two-Dimensional (2D) Perovskites For Solid-State Refrigeration.
